February 2006 Monthly Meeting - Tales that Warm the Heart

Michael Rutledge presided at the meeting and welcomed two newcomers, Louis Cadeau and Vanessa Fraser.

The theme for the night was "Tales That Warm the Heart", a nod to February being the month of St. Valentine's Day.

Michael warmed up the group with a Buddhist wisdom story.

Maureen Henry then told an Oscar Wilde story, The Nightingale and the Rose, wherein a small nightingale sacrifices all for the sake of love.

Talla Henry told a story about love and revenge, depicting the rivalry of two famous opera stars and the "fireworks" that ensued.

Michael then told a story of first love.

Some personal stories were exchanged about "first loves".

Dave Lewis then told a story about how a mother's love inspired Pinball Clemens to greatness.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, March 1st. The theme will be "The Sun, the Moon and the Stars", in honour of International Storytelling Day on March 20th where this year the stories will be focus on "The Moon". Listeners and tellers are welcome to attend!
