Monthly Meetings 2006

Our Supporters

The 07 November, 2007 Monthly Meeting Theme was - For Goodness Sake!

We are in the Brantford Public Library on the main floor in the large glassed in area.

Following is the activity that occurred at Brantford Public Library 04 April 2007

Barbara Sisson told the story of Gunny Wolf. It started as follows:- A man and his little daughter lived alone near the edge of the forest. Now, that man knew there were wolves in the forest, so he built a fence around the house, and told his little daughter she must on no account go outside the gate while he was away.....

Hugh Sutherland recounted an old tale called Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault.    Once upon a time there lived in a certain village a little country girl, the prettiest creature who was ever seen. .....

Tolla Henry Told the famous tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. A gigantic Green Knight armed with an axe enters the hall and asks that someone in the court take the axe and strike a single blow at him, on the condition that the Green Knight will return the blow one year and one day later.....

Maureen Henry Recounted an Arabian Nights' Tale about a King who was betrayed by his wife and the violent repercusions that befell many young women in his kingdom because of it and the ingenious cunning of Shiharazad the daughter of the King's Wazir.

Barbara Sisson Told the tale of The Valiant Little Tailor and the phase “Seven at one stroke!” and it's interpretation by the tailor and others he met.

Hugh Sutherland Told the Story of Jack the giant Killer (The two faced giant).

Maureen Henry Total a story called, "The Followers" This story is adapted from a short story by Dylan Thomas, the poet. It is about two young men who, while pursuing their questionable pastime of following strangers hear more than they bargained for!

Louise Rutledge told her first Guild story today. It was the Story of The Egg by Carolyne Pogue. Once upon a time, under a shimmering full moon, a dove laid an amazing egg. It was not little and robin's egg blue. It was not slippery with a black frog dot in the middle. And it was not white and ostrich egg gigantic. No. The nest was not amazing. The mother of this egg was not amazing. She looked plain, like every other dove in the world. The father wasn't particularly interesting to look at either.

Please come to our monthly meetings to hear the rest of the stories and many others. goback1.gif
